Amphibious Infrastructure: From Coastlines to Coast-Zones
The Centre for Asset Studies is proud to share this paper introducing amphibious infrastructure as an integrative approach to coastal adaptation that addresses the compounding pressures of climate change, economic transformation, and infrastructure obsolescence in coastal zones.
Building on doctoral research examining adaptive urban systems in coastal megacities, we present a structured framework for identifying, planning, and delivering infrastructure solutions that embrace rather than resist dynamic water-land interactions.
Summary
A huge proportion of the worlds population live on coastlines and rivers and will be impacted by intensifying storms and ecosystem degradation
Approaches to urban and coastal planning need to adapt, to move from defence to coexistence.
There are huge opportunities with amphibious infrastrucutre to improve social and economic resilience and prosperity.
